Helyett Cycles 1919-2019

Centennial

In 2019, Helyett blows his 100 candles. A unique birthday for an iconic brand, the occasion to celebrate one of the most beautiful stories of French cycle history.

On the rise and driven by the enthusiasm of the success of the crowdfunding that has enabled in 2017 to raise funds for the publication of Helyett: Dans le progrès, toujours en tête, the book tribute to the great industrial adventure of Helyett Cycles founded in 1919 in Sully-sur-Loire in the Loiret, we have imagined a new contribution to the history of the brand on the occasion of the centennial year of its creation.

The idea came naturally to edit a bike that embodies the essence of the brand. A bike that we wanted exceptional and necessarily made in France in the original spirit. For this, we have selected as a partner a workshop that has gained some notoriety among specialists over the last few years and the result is the Helyett 100: a "modern-vintage" cyclosportive model that combines the classic style of Helyett Spéciale, the know-how inherited from the golden age of the French cycle industry and current elegant and performing components. In other words, what is currently the best in the manufacturing of brazed steel frames! To introduce the Helyett 100, we went to the winter of 2019 near the French Sud-Ouest beaches accompagnied by the videomaker Feather Films and the photographer David Meignan to test our prototype. New Generation Track Frameset

First production of Helyett cycles contemporary version, this steel frame kit is handcrafted in France, assembled in the brazing process in the manner of the traditional cycle manufactures of the 1950s. Clean design, lightness and impeccable finish are the key words of a design for mounting in fixie / singlespeed, without passage of cable in the back but with a perforation for a front brake. It consists of a Tange Prestige Japan tube frame for the front triange, Reynolds 520 on the rear and Columbus Zona for the seat tube, and a Reynolds "R" butted fork. The weld seams are polished by hand and painted in a metallic green usually reserved for the automotive industry with the iconic "Helyett" typographic logo revisited.
